Top Five Summer Prep To-Dos

1. Organize Your Camp Gear
With camping trips on the horizon, now is the time to take inventory of your gear and make sure you are ready to roll at a moment’s notice (another wonder of Sun Valley are all of the wonderful camping spots just outside of town – we love taking mid-week adventures under the stars!). Check out these how-tos from Sunset to make sure your gear is in top shape.
2. Spring Home Projects
After a fall full of leaves, a winter full of snow and ice, and the beginning of spring melting it all down – it’s important to give your home some TLC. Our top priorities? Cleaning out the gutters, inspecting the roof for any damages, getting the outdoor faucets turned back on, checking the attic for any moisture. If you need a helping hand, there are plenty of local landscaping and roofing businesses to help out!
3. Clean Out Your Fly Box
In Sun Valley, fly fishing is a year-round love affair. But with every season comes new fun and adventures! Make sure you have everything you need for the season by cleaning up and cleaning out your fly box. Need some local advice? Visit Silver Creek Outfitters for all things fly fishing!
4. Lawn and Garden Prep
A little time now will save you from a lot of headaches later. Spring is the perfect time to prune any trees in your yard before they begin to bloom. Rake up any leftover leaves from the fall. Get your soil tested and check in on your compost pile if you have one. And don’t forget to order your seeds if you want something special this year (you can check in with one of the many local landscaping/garden centers in the Valley to see what they will have available and to find out what grows best in the area).
5. Enjoy Patio Dining
Okay, this one isn’t a chore, but it’s the perfect way to reward yourself after a job well done! We love the ample patio options for grabbing a drink with friends or dining al fresco. Grab a schooner from Grumpy’s, a pizza at the Limelight, or go for a full meal outdoors at the Ketchum Grill!
