October News & Updates

October is keeping us on our toes – picture-perfect sunny days, chilly evenings, and the ever-present chance of waking up to snow. We love this time of year for the empty trails, hunting expeditions, and endless leaf-peeping opportunities. Life seems to move at a slower pace in the fall and whether you’re catching up on movies or hitting it hard with ski conditioning classes, there’s no denying the brilliance of this time of year. We hope you get out and about to enjoy everything this small town has to offer! Happy Fall from all of us at SVA.

Five Ways To Make Fall Last In Sun Valley

1. As town gets quieter, there’s more time to explore your inner artist. From theatre to fine art, there is abundant opportunity to try something new or dig deeper into an existing passion. Join a creative writing workshop, line dance with friends, or take a pottery class.

2. School is in full swing, but after-school activities abound! Who doesn’t want to be reborn as a kid growing up in the Wood River Valley? Kids of all ages can be found preparing with their teammates for the upcoming season of nordic skiing, ski racing, hockey and figure skating. And if winter sports aren’t their thing, the Sun Valley Center for the Arts always has amazing events, free family programs, and workshops for art, photography and more.

3. Halloween never disappoints. Halloween brings out all the usual witches and ghosts along with the wackier side of this community. There’s something for everyone. Pick your poison!

4. Navigate the local waters sans crowds. Everything in town slows down, including the rivers. The next few weeks are the perfect time to go fishing and experience the solitude and beauty that made Hemingway favor fall in Sun Valley.
5. The anticipation of Winter is running strong. Get stoked by heading over to the River Run Lodge for the Pray For Snow Party on Saturday, November 16th from 4-7pm. Go dressed in your best retro onesies and 80s gear ready to rock to music.
