Five Favorite Sun Valley Winter Activities
1. Outdoor Ice Skating
There are a handful of locations to lace up your skates in the Valley. In Hailey, you can skate at the Hailey Rodeo Grounds or at the Campion Ice House. In Ketchum, you’re sure to find a game of pond hockey at Cristina Potter’s Ice Rink. And if you’re looking for picture-perfect ice – you’ll find it at Sun Valley’s outdoor ice arena!
2. Weekly Meditation & Yoga
Find your moment of peace and serenity with The Flourish Foundation’s weekly yoga and meditation. The Flourish Foundation, a local nonprofit, offers this for free – but guests are welcome to make a donation to support the foundation’s programming!
3. Live Music at the Limelight
The Lounge is the place to be in Ketchum for live local music throughout the winter months! It’s the perfect way to kick back and relax after a day of skiing. Order a beer plus some snacks and enjoy some of the best local talents in an intimate setting. Live music is held every Friday through Sunday night during peak seasons.
4. Nordic Skiing & Snowshoeing
There are almost endless options for getting outside on your nordic skis or snowshoes in Sun Valley. From the Wood River Trail that stretches from Bellevue to Ketchum & Sun Valley, to wooded trails up at Galena lodge – whether you’re looking for a quick outing at lunch or a whole day on the snow, the BCRD has a comprehensive list of the trails available to you.
5. Fly Fishing
Sun Valley is known for its angling opportunities – and in the winter it only feels that much more secluded and magical on the river. Not sure where to start? There are plenty of local shops & guides to get you on the right track! Check out Silver Creek and Lost River Outfitters, both in downtown Ketchum for gear and tips!
